LSO Soundhub Associate
2023/24
Carol was recently selected as one of LSO's Soundhub Associates. Based at LSO St Luke’s, LSO Soundhub is a composer-led resource that provides a flexible environment where composers can explore, collaborate and experiment, with access to vital resources, support from industry professionals and LSO members and staff. |
Young Composers Meeting
2021
Carol received a bursary to attend the Young Composers Meeting 2021 with orkest de ereprijs. Over the course, she worked with composers Tansy Davies, Richard Ayres and Martijn Padding and developed and workshopped a new piece for mixed ensemble, which was performed during the Festival’s concert series. |
ROH JPYA Online Women's Empowerment Course
2020
Carol was selected among 20 composers, librettists and directors world-wide to take part in the Jette Parker Young Artists' Online Women’s Empowerment Course led by Katie Mitchell, in December 2020. The week-long course examined the contexts in which creatives work and how to develop strategies to forge a successful career. |
Vale of Glamorgan Festival Peter Reynolds Composer Studio
2018
Carol received a bursary to attend the Vale of Glamorgan Festival, taught by Robert Fokkens. Over the course, she developed and workshopped new pieces for string quartet and for marimba, the former which was performed during the Festival’s concert series. She also received tuition from composers Mark David Boden, Lynne Plowman and John Metcalf. |
St Magnus International Music Festival Composer Course
2017
Carol received a bursary to attend the St. Magnus Composers’ Course in Orkney, taught by Alasdair Nicolson and Sally Beamish. Over the course, she developed and workshopped new pieces for string quartet and for chamber ensemble, the latter which was performed during the Festival’s concert series. |
Dartington International Summer School Advanced Composers Course
2016
Carol received a bursary from The Hinrichsen Foundation to attend the Dartington International Summer School, taught by Judith Weir. Over the course, she developed and workshopped a new piece for string trio, which was performed during the Festival’s concert series and later broadcast on BBC Radio 3. |
BBC National Orchestra of Wales: Composition Wales
2016
‘Songs from the Stars: Movement I’ was chosen by the BBC National Orchestra of Wales to be workshopped as part of their Welsh Composers’ Showcase in 2016, conducted by Jac van Steen, and mentored by B Tommy Andresson. The piece was chosen to be premiered by the BBC NOW in the concluding concert of the project. |
